About Me

I studied Product Design Engineering BSc at Brunel University where I channelled my technical knowledge into creating designs that fulfil a purpose.

My designs combine engineering and scientific rigour with the human, looking to produce objects that not only meet a high functional requirement but are also intuitive in operation and pleasurable for the user.

 

Experience

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CONSULTANCY • DESIGN ENGINEER  SEP 11 – PRESENT

Design Engineer working on low volume to mass-production projects in sectors ranging from medical through to consumer electronics.

TOM DIXON • PRODUCT DEVELOPER  JUN 10 – DEC 10

Three month internship & further freelance contract. Tasks undertaken include product design & specification, modelling, technical drawings & manufacturer liaison. The Wing Fan degree project was in collaboration and with sponsorship from the company

PDD LTD • TECHNICAL PLACEMENT  JUL 09 – DEC 10

Forty week work placement extended to a year, with further freelance work. Roles included technical research, product design & specification, circuit board design, FEA, ray tracing, graphics & modelmaking

BRUNEL UNIVERSITY • DEGREE  2007-11

1st class honours degree in Product Design Engineering (BSc) from Brunel University. Modules include; Contextual design, Computer based design methods, Innovation management, Design for manufacture, Embedded systems, Mechanics & Graphic communication

    Developed for Tom Dixon and funded by DesignPlus, the Wing Fan offers a 135% increase in performance over existing fans at half the speed and a drastically reduced energy usage.

    Form was refined using sketching and later physical prototyping to establish ideal reaches and grips for the cell
